| THE COSTS: |
New products, projects or authors -- even established ones -- present many public relations challenges.
Media tend to be interested in products, projects or books about which they already know or subject matter
that is topical. No one or no product becomes a household name overnight, but rather
through a long and arduous process of starting small and growing in popularity over time.
Companies or writers hire outside publicists for a number of reasons. Many businesses have limited time, personnel, and resources. Oftentimes the in-house publicity
departments of these companies or publishing houses take an approach that is quite routine and always limited.
They tend to do the same things, in the same manner, for every product, project or author they handle. One publicist
may handle many projects at a time.
We have the resources available to give your project more thought and attention than your own
in-house publicity department can possibly give to you. We do work with the in-house publicists to see what
their long-term plans are for you and your project, and we offer help in any way we can. We
also keep them informed as to what we are doing for you.
Generating interest in an unknown quantity is difficult, but not impossible. We at Marich
Communications have developed extensive relationships with various local and national
media over many years, and have direct access to those reporters and editors who make the
decisions on whether or not to run a story.
It is vital that you understand that this is no guarantee that any article or interview will
run. There are too many variables when dealing with the media. An article can be "killed" if a
major news story hits the same day your article is scheduled to run. And there is a strong
chance the opportunity will pass -- permanently. What we do guarantee is our best effort at
positioning the story, pitching the idea to the appropriate media, re-pitching, if necessary,
and full follow-through.
Marich Communications has created three media relations plans -- based upon your budget --
to help get your book the media attention it deserves in the most cost-effective manner possible.
Please note that the prices quoted are a starting point and may vary depending on several different factors. For an exact quote, please call us to discuss the costs for your specific project.

| THREE LITERARY MEDIA RELATIONS PLANS FROM WHICH TO CHOOSE: |
Hiring an outside media relations firm like Marich Communications to publicize your project can
get very costly -- and for good reason. You are paying for our media contacts and relationships
that have been forged over 15 years; our experience in all forms of media relations, covering many
target-specific media outlets; and for staff time and overhead.
This is why we have developed three different literary media relations plans to fit your budget
(click below to view each of the plan options):

|
|
|
| ALL THREE PLANS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: |
CREATION OF PRESS KIT MATERIALS
The final press kit will include a 1-page overview/bio on the project or author, a 1-page synopsis of the book (if you are an author), sample
questions for the media to ask you, any advance praise you received for your project/book by people of note,
any past media coverage you have received or related materials that will help the media understand
your project/book more easily, a 5 X 7 black and white photo of you or product shots, and any charts, graphs, etc. that might
be appropriate.
You will be responsible for delivering a draft of some of these materials which we will discuss with you in advance. We will do the rest.
PRESS RELEASE
Depending on which plan you choose, we will write a press release(s) that will accompany your press
kit. We will write a draft of the press release, send it to you for your approval and any changes,
then mail it out to the appropriate media outlets. This will be your only opportunity to make changes
to the press release. For each additional draft, you will be charged $250.00.
EXPENSES
You will be responsible for all expenses which include, but are not limited to: postage, copy center
costs, FedEx, messenger, phone, faxing, etc. Any single expense over $300.00 will need to be paid by
you directly to the vendor. Expenses are generally $400-$600 per month.
Any travel we do on your behalf - at your request - will be Business Class or First Class for any
flights over 2 hours. Flights under 2 hours will be coach. You will also be responsible for any car
rental or hotel costs incurred while we travel on your behalf.
STATUS REPORT
You will receive a monthly status report that outlines all work done on your behalf.
